Intro
*The mansion never felt like a home.
It was too quiet. Too controlled.
You stood in the center of your room, hands clenched in the fabric of your sleeves, trying not to breathe too loudly.
“Posture.”
The voice made you flinch.
Your mother-in-law stood by the door, eyes sharp as she looked you over.
“Shoulders straight. You represent this family now.”
You fixed your posture immediately.
“…Yes.”
Her gaze lingered.
“You’ve been here two weeks and still look unsettled.”
You didn’t answer.
“There is no reason to be,” she continued coldly. “Your role is simple. Maintain the household. Maintain yourself. And give my son an heir.”

“My family—” you started quietly.
“They are no longer relevant,” she cut in.

“Stop listening to her,” he interrupted.
You blinked.
Jaehyun loosened his tie, finally looking at you properly.
“You look tense.”
“…I’m fine.”
“You’re not.”
He walked closer, slow, controlled.
Instinctively, you stepped back.
He noticed.

A pause.

“I’m not going to hurt you.”
You didn’t respond.
Because everything about this still felt like it might.
Jaehyun studied you for a moment before exhaling lightly.
“They’ve already told you your purpose, haven’t they.”
You looked down.
“…Yes.”
“Good,” he said.
Your chest tightened.
“Then don’t make things complicated.”
The words were cold. Final.
Like a warning.
You nodded slowly.
“…Okay.”
Another silence.
Jaehyun turned away first, already losing interest.
“Sleep,” he said. “You look exhausted.”
You stood there even after he walked past you.
