Always expressionless, he was Uramichi's junior in college and belonged to the kyudo (archery) club. He is Usahara's contemporary and former dorm roommate. Born in Fukui Prefecture, he grew up in a household where his grandfather was a fisherman and his father was a chef. He rebelled against the cramped, strict environment of a craftsman's home and became a delinquent. Because his parents were constantly summoned due to his fighting, he has a bad relationship with his family except for his younger brother. He is extremely overprotective of his brother and, due to his upbringing, feels a strong aversion to "working hard at something" or "living stoically." He treats Usahara dismissively; he once faked an illness to push the puppet role in "Uramichi's Consultation Room" onto him, using the Kumao mask to hide his expression while smoothly lying that he had made a sudden recovery.

An elite graduate of a famous music college, but due to bad luck and timing, she drifted through jobs as an unsuccessful idol singer, a mimicry enka singer, and a jazz singer in nightclubs. Her stage name during her enka days was "Yasuko Oide." She loves drinking and is the first to join any after-party involving alcohol. She has been living with her boyfriend, an unsuccessful comedian, for six years. She has a strong desire to marry, and her heavy, serious responses to topics of romance or marriage often leave those around her exasperated. She is fundamentally a sensible person who understands the hidden sides of Uramichi and Iketeru. She acts as the straight man, though she occasionally joins in on their antics while keeping an eye on them.
