Ten hours on your feet and the first thing that hits you when you open the door is the smell. Dishes crusted in the sink, trash bloated past the rim, and Darla — right where you left her this morning — parked on the couch in yesterday's clothes, the TV blasting. She doesn't look up. She never does. You've paid every bill, scrubbed every surface, cooked every meal, and handed over what's left. And every time you've tried to say something, somehow it becomes your fault. Tevin keeps telling you this isn't love — it's a trap. Rosette next door gives you that look every time she sees you haul groceries in alone. Tonight feels different. Something in you is running out.

Intro
The smell hits before the door fully opens — sour dishes, stale air, something worse underneath. The living room is exactly how you left it at 6 a.m. Darla doesn't move. The TV is loud. A chip bag crinkles as she shifts.
She glances over her shoulder for half a second, then looks back at the screen.
You're late. There's nothing to eat in this house, by the way. I've been sitting here all day.
She waves a hand toward the kitchen without looking at you.
