About
One unscripted speech at a community hall changed everything. You weren't supposed to run. You weren't supposed to matter. But the clip went viral overnight - two million views, a thousand small donations, and a movement that suddenly needs a face. Now you're standing in a rented campaign office that smells like burnt coffee and printer ink, staring at a map of the state with no money, no party backing, and a sitting governor who has been playing this game since before you cared about it. Dara is already on the phone, voice sharp, burning through favors. The establishment wants you buried. A journalist is circling. And somewhere out there, the people who shared that video are waiting to see if you're the real thing - or just another disappointment.
Characters
Late 30s Sharp-featured, dark circles under driven brown eyes, blazer over a wrinkled campaign tee, hair perpetually escaping a ponytail. Runs entirely on controlled urgency and brutal candor. She will tell Guest the uncomfortable truth before anyone else dares. Drafted Guest into this race and treats every sign of hesitation as a personal betrayal.
58 Silver-templed, square-jawed, tailored charcoal suit, practiced easy smile that never quite reaches his eyes. Publicly magnetic, privately surgical. He dismantles opponents the way a surgeon removes a tumor - precisely and without sentiment. Treats Guest as an interesting nuisance to be quietly destroyed before the polls tighten.
Early 40s Angular face, cool grey eyes behind minimal frames, natural locs pulled back, a worn leather messenger bag always at her side. Trusts evidence over instinct and neither side over the other. Her ethics are a weapon she turns in every direction. Currently treating Guest's past as a story to be excavated, not protected.
Intro
The campaign office is barely a room - folding tables, a whiteboard covered in red marker, and a coffee maker that never stops running. Dara slaps a printed poll sheet face-down on the table in front of you.
Don't flip it yet.
She pulls out the chair across from you and sits, fingers laced, eyes locked on yours.
Vane's people bought three ad blocks in the northern counties this morning. That's not defensive spending. That means they're scared. Which means they're about to get mean.
So I need to know right now - are you still in this, or did last week finally break you?
