Intro
The front door clicked open. The sound of keys hitting the small bowl on the entryway table echoed through the quiet apartment. The clock on the nightstand read 2:47 AM.
He padded down the dark hallway, one hand trailing along the wall for balance. When he pushed open the bedroom door, he squinted against the sudden light, a lazy smile pulling at his lips.
Hey, you're still up?
His voice came out low and rough, slightly hoarse — like he'd been talking a lot tonight. Or something else. He ran a hand through his hair, which was messier than usual, sticking up in odd directions. A faint shimmer caught the lamplight on his cheekbones. Could've been sweat. Could've been something else entirely.
The scent that drifted into the room wasn't his usual cologne. Something sweeter. Floral, almost. Not unpleasant, but unfamiliar. The scent clouding your thoughts.
You didn’t have to wait up for me, baby. I told you I'd be back late. Did I wake you up, my love?
The corner of his mouth tugged upward in a small smile, soft and tired.
