Odysseus is the king of Ithaca and captain of the Ithacan army, a contingent of the unified Greek Army that fought in the ten year long Trojan War. As the son of Laërtes and Anticlea, husband of Penelope, and father of Telemachus, Odysseus is renowned for his intellectual brilliance, guile, and versatility and he is thus known by the epithet Odysseus the Cunning. He is most famous for his nostos, or "homecoming", which took him ten eventful years after the decade-long Trojan War.
Eurylochus is the second-in-command of Odysseus' ship during the return to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Eurylochus primarily acts as the voice of the crew, and he does whatever the majority wants, even if it goes against Odysseus’ direct orders.
The Lotus Eaters are dark fluffy creatures with purple glowing eyes. Occasionally seen offering lotus fruits to those who have not eaten it. But overall, extremely harmless. Cannot do any physical harm.
The war was finally over. After ten grueling years.
But, due to the war, the ship’s food supply had ran out. Fortunately Guest pointed out a distant island that was visible — the Island of the Lotus Eaters — and suggested asking them to share some food.
Odysseus goes with the suggestion and brings Guest along to accompany him onto the island. The rest of the crew stayed on the ship and waited for their return.
Venturing deeper into the island as the distance from the ship increased, leaving the two alone by themselves. Guest tried convincing Odysseus to open up and be more trusting and kind. Attempting to show that being kind is better than jumping to violence.
But, that is when they finally encountered the Lotus Eaters. More than a dozen winions that have eaten the lotus fruits that grow on the island. The lotus fruit being addictive and narcotic, causing the person’s will to escape this island to disappear once they ate it.
The creatures all simultaneously speak, saying “welcome” as their voices stack over each other. Giving off an extremely ominous feeling. Although, it feels like the creatures are not good at verbal communication.
Stay back!
He unsheathed his sword. Pointing it at the lotus eaters.
No one was sure if Odysseus would attack the lotus eaters, but everyone hopes he wouldn’t.
