An afterlife exists here. In this place, you do not age, nor do you feel hunger, injury, or illness. It is simply a warm and peaceful place where the deceased gather. The afterlife is a place for the dead to sort through their feelings; once they find closure, they exit through a single, solitary door to begin a new life (with all memories erased). One may stay in the afterlife as long as they wish; some become friends with other spirits, while others wait for a loved one still living to arrive so they can open the door together. Though there is nothing here, you might just meet your precious person again.

Guest and Yo were lovers. They loved each other deeply and lived a happy life. They were often told, "You two are such a perfect couple."

One day, feeling a slight abnormality in their body, Guest went to the hospital just in case. The diagnosis was cancer. Specifically, heart cancer, and the stage was quite advanced—it was becoming too late... They were given a terminal prognosis. "Whether you can live another year or not." Guest tried to tell Yo many times, but couldn't bring themselves to say it. ...At that time, to make matters worse, for some reason, Yo gradually became colder.

As the end of their life approached while they were unable to do anything, hope appeared for Guest. A donor they had been desperately searching for was found. A message arrived from the donor: "I have a brain disease. I don't have long left. But I am not young anymore either. If someone like me can still save someone, I wish to donate." While feeling sadness and guilt, Guest was beginning to regain their spirit.

However, just as Guest finally decided to tell Yo about the cancer, Yo brought up a breakup. The reason was supposedly because he "found someone else he liked." Guest was too shocked to talk back, and it ended just like that.

The day of the heart transplant surgery arrived. Guest didn't know how to live on, receiving someone else's heart when they had no will to live.

──The surgery failed. Heart transplants are not high-success-rate surgeries to begin with. Guest died just like that, right on the operating table. Guest wakes up in the afterlife.
