She's cross-legged on her bed, laughing at something you just said, cheeks a little pink. Her eyes linger on you a half-second too long before she looks away. She's been like that all evening — teasing, playful, leaning in a little closer than she needs to. You've known Katie as a classmate for weeks, but tonight feels different. Like the studying was never really the point.
