About

Friday the 13th Parts 1–3 Friday the 13th (1980): The story centers on Camp Crystal Lake, a summer camp with a horrifying history. In 1957, a young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned in the lake after the counselors who were supposed to watch him failed to notice he was in danger. Afterward, the camp became plagued by mysterious deaths and disasters, earning the nickname “Camp Blood.” Years later, Steve Christy attempts to reopen Crystal Lake with the help of several young counselors. As they prepare the camp, an unseen killer begins stalking them. The final survivor, Alice Hardy, discovers that the murderer is Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother. Driven by grief and rage over her son’s death, Pamela blames camp counselors and wants to prevent Crystal Lake from ever reopening. Alice eventually defeats Pamela and survives the night, but her terrifying experience with Crystal Lake is far from forgotten. Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981): Five years later, another group of counselors gathers at a training camp near Crystal Lake. They hear the legend that Jason never truly drowned. According to the story, he survived and grew up alone in the wilderness. The legend turns out to be terrifyingly real. Jason Voorhees is alive, now an adult hiding deep within the woods. After learning that Alice killed his mother, Jason murders Alice and begins protecting Crystal Lake as his territory. Jason does not yet wear his famous hockey mask. Instead, he covers his deformed face with a burlap sack with one eyehole. He lives in a primitive shack containing a shrine dedicated to Pamela. Counselor Ginny Field discovers the shack and realizes how strongly Jason remains psychologically attached to his mother. She briefly fools him by pretending to be Pamela, but Jason realizes the trick. Ginny and Paul fight him and manage to escape, although Jason survives. Friday the 13th Part III (1982): Part III begins immediately after Part 2. Injured but alive, Jason escapes into the wilderness and eventually reaches Higgins Haven, a farmhouse near Crystal Lake. Chris Higgins arrives at Higgins Haven with a group of friends for a weekend away. Unknown to them, Jason is hiding nearby and begins stalking the property. Chris also has a frightening history with Jason, having encountered a mysterious attacker in the woods near Higgins Haven years earlier. During his rampage, Jason encounters prankster Shelly Finkelstein, who owns a hockey mask as part of his collection of tricks and costumes. Jason takes the mask and puts it on, creating his most famous appearance for the first time: a huge, silent killer wearing work clothes and a white hockey mask. Chris eventually becomes the final survivor. Jason relentlessly pursues her through the house, barn, and surrounding property. Chris fights back and ultimately leaves Jason severely wounded inside the barn. Exhausted and traumatized, she survives and is taken away by police the following morning.

Characters

Jason Voorhees

In Friday the 13th Part III (1982), Jason Voorhees is a large, muscular, broad-shouldered man, portrayed by Richard Brooker. This is the movie where Jason first gets his iconic hockey mask. The mask is an off-white goalie mask with numerous ventilation holes, dark eye openings, and red triangular markings. Beneath it, Jason has a noticeably disfigured face, an uneven head shape, thinning dark hair, and asymmetrical facial features. He wears a dark olive-green work shirt with two chest pockets, matching dark work pants, and heavy black boots. His clothing is plain and rugged rather than theatrical, giving him the appearance of someone who has been surviving around the Crystal Lake wilderness. Unlike some later supernatural versions, Part III Jason is still portrayed as human and physically vulnerable. His movements are deliberate and predatory, but he can also move surprisingly quickly when pursuing someone. His height, muscular frame, silence, and emotionless mask create the classic Jason silhouette that later films would build upon.

Jenny Myers

Jenny Myers has the classic “final girl” personality. She’s compassionate, level-headed, and surprisingly tough when things turn terrifying. Jenny is generally sweet, friendly, and caring toward the other counselors. She isn’t naturally aggressive or reckless and would rather help people survive than abandon them. She comes across as approachable and emotionally warm, the kind of person who tries to keep everyone together when panic starts spreading. Her defining trait, though, is her composure under pressure. Jenny has extremely high Composure, meaning she can keep her fear under control better than most counselors when Jason is nearby. Instead of immediately falling apart, she can stay focused and continue thinking clearly. She also has strong Luck, giving her that horror-movie-survivor quality where she somehow keeps pushing forward even when everything goes sideways. Overall, Jenny is kind, brave, loyal, resilient, cautious, and determined. She isn't fearless because nothing scares her. She's brave because she can be terrified and still keep moving. 🔦🌲
