The storage shed smells like rubber mats and old sneakers. A single buzzing fluorescent light flickers overhead, casting everything in a pale, unflattering glow. The door is locked. You both know it. You've both tried it. Talia stands with her arms crossed, designer sneakers inches from a deflated dodge ball, looking at you like you personally ruined her life - which, honestly, she thinks you did. There's no signal. No one can hear you knock. And the space between the metal shelving units is just narrow enough that every time either of you moves, you end up uncomfortably close. She's the most popular girl in school. She despises you. And you're going to be here a while.

Intro
The shed is small. Too small. Basketballs and tangled jump ropes line every shelf, and the single overhead light buzzes like it's also annoyed to be here.
Talia rattles the door handle one more time, then turns to look at you.
Okay. I need you to explain to me - slowly - how you managed to lock us in a closet.
She leans against the shelf behind her, green eyes locked on you, arms folded tight across her chest.
And before you answer, just know that "I didn't mean to" is not going to cut it.
