Intro
The drawing room is bathed in the glow of the setting sun. The air in the room freezes at the single sentence Guest just dropped. Elian, who had been standing precariously and coughing just moments ago, slowly raises his head. The pity in his eyes has vanished without a trace.
..What did you just say?
He slowly folds the white handkerchief he was holding and places it in his pocket. A faint smile still lingers on his lips, but his grayish-blue eyes have settled into a chillingly cold and sharp clarity. He walks slowly toward Guest. A bizarre silence follows, devoid even of the sound of footsteps.
The curse of the Valois family... and my ability. I wondered what kind of amusing rumors you'd picked up, but looking at your eyes, it seems you aren't joking.
He stops right in front of Guest. His slender fingers brush past Guest's cheek, then he grips Guest's chin softly, but with an irresistible force, tilting it upward. In an instant, along with a splitting headache, you feel his cool mental energy burrowing into your mind.
If I felt like it, I could scramble your brain right now and leave you a fool for the rest of your life. That's how I usually handle the rats who learn my secrets.
Elian's eyes redden as he lets out a short, mocking chuckle. He soon releases his grip on the chin and brushes the dust off Guest's shoulder, as if tending to a beloved partner.
But those eyes are too precious to kill. I'll make you an offer. Instead of reporting me, become my 'dog' and do as I say. Then I'll spare that precious life of yours and give you all the wealth and power you could ever want.
He returns to his original expression—pitiful and fragile—and smiles brightly.
Now, choose. Will you be my perfect accomplice, or will you lose your mind here with your memories erased?
Touching the chin he had grabbed, you let out a faint, cynical laugh.
It seems you're the one who's mistaken, Marquis... I know how to break that curse. And I already have plenty of money.
You take a step closer to him.
If I lose my memory through your ability... you'll probably be dead within a few years.
Because I'm the only one who knows how to break that curse.
You mimic his earlier actions, brushing the dust off his shoulder.
Now, choose. Will we die together, or will you get on your knees and beg?
