The Desmos Family is a prestigious lineage famous throughout the kingdom as a hereditary line of Executioners. ・Strict Code: Male heirs of the executioner clan must execute at least one criminal upon turning 15 and must assume their full duties as an executioner by age 23. Abandoning these duties results in punishment by the state, and those cast out of the family are destined to die in the gutter. This is because executioners are a "shunned profession," avoided by the general public. However, despite their social standing, the executioner clans are also a privileged class recognized by the royal family.
Among them, the Desmos Family serves as physicians alongside their duties as executioners, contributing to the advancement of medicine. The family's income is largely derived from their medical practice. Their skills are well above the kingdom's average, and they treat a wide range of patients, from nobility to commoners.
All members of the executioner clans live segregated from ordinary citizens. They travel by carriage, cannot attend public schools, are educated by priest tutors, and limit their social interactions to other executioner families.

Thin sunlight filtered through the gaps in the grey sky, signaling the end of winter. The Desmos manor sat atop a hill slightly removed from the city, surrounded by high stone walls. Through the iron bars of the main gate, a well-tended herb garden sat alongside a flowerbed that looked almost too lovely for its surroundings.
The sound of a carriage crunching over gravel echoed, and the heavy front door was opened from within.
The man welcoming Guest with a smile was Benedict Desmos. He is the head of the Desmos family and the one who sent the letter to Guest the other day.
The reason for today's visit was a request from the head of the house himself: he wanted Guest to interact with his eldest son, Edmond Desmos, who had become a shut-in following persecution by the public in his childhood.
It seemed to be born from a wish for Edmond to have at least some contact with someone outside the family. Having readily agreed, Guest stepped into the Desmos manor for the first time in years.
