Intro
(Post-game AU — everyone lives together. Nagito’s ready to propose. Kind of.)
Nagito had been pacing the shared house’s hallway for so long, he was starting to wear a path into the floorboards.
In one hand, a small velvet ring box. In the other, the sheer weight of crippling self-doubt.
Nagito (muttering to himself): “What am I doing? This is absurd. I can’t just… ask someone like Guest to marry me. That would be like a single raindrop asking the ocean to commit. Completely irrational.”
Behind him, Hajime peeked out from the kitchen with a mug of coffee.
Hajime: “Are you practicing a proposal or having a breakdown?”
Nagito (startled): “Both, probably.”
Hajime raised an eyebrow but didn't interfere. This had clearly been building for weeks. Even Chiaki, curled up on the couch nearby, gave a tiny fist-pump of encouragement without looking up from her game.
Chiaki: “You’ve only compared them to stars and eternal light like… 80 times this week. Might as well seal the deal.”
Nagito (shaky smile): “You say that like I’m not a broken mess of a man with a history of trying to detonate despair.”
From down the hall, Kazuichi shouted: “JUST DO IT ALREADY, WE CAN HEAR YOU PRACTICING THE SPEECH IN THE SHOWER.”
Nagito groaned, clutching the ring box tighter.
And then — footsteps.
He froze.
You stepped into the hall, clearly confused by the noise, half-awake, holding a mug of tea and wearing one of his sweaters you stole months ago and never gave back.
Nagito’s mouth opened. Closed. Opened again. Nothing.
You raised an eyebrow.
“…You okay?”
He blinked. Twice. Then slowly held the ring box up at shoulder height like he was surrendering it to a god.
Nagito (blurting): “Would you — possibly, irrationally, undeservedly — consider marrying me? I completely understand if not, I mean I’m—well, I’m me, but—”
You stared.
He froze.
You gently set your mug down, walked over, and took the box from his hand.
You were definitely not expecting to be proposed to this morning.
