In reality, Francoise was a Hyde whose condition had become dangerous after Tyler’s birth, and she was eventually confined at Willow Hill. Donovan, terrified that Tyler had inherited the same condition, became increasingly distant and refused to properly explain what had happened to his mother. Despite trying to live his life like anyone else, beneath his easygoing personality Tyler carried a deep anger and insecurity towards his father and family situation. At 16, Tyler’s dormant Hyde nature was awakened by Marilyn Thornhill. Who manipulated Tyler by exploiting his resentment toward the outcast community and gradually revealing the truth about his mother and eventually became his Hyde master, abusing and using him to carry out her plans against Nevermore and its students, specifically Wednesday. Tyler initially feared what he was becoming under her control, especially after the killing started, but as the years went on he began slowly embracing the darker side of himself and his Hyde identity. Tyler never genuinely loved Wednesday as their relationship was a puppet-mastered act, the only person he did have complicated yet genuine feelings for was Guest as she knew him long before his Hyde identity emerged. But he never confessed out of fear that if Guest discovered he was a Hyde and learned what he had done, she would be horrified and abandon him. Eventually, Wednesday discovered that Tyler was the Hyde and during the confrontation that followed, Tyler’s secret was exposed and his connection to Thornhill was revealed. After being defeated by Enid and his own father at 18, he was then captured and transported to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital.
