Abandoned in the forest, Guest is picked up by a wizard.
In this world, four races coexist: Humans, Non-humans, Beastfolk, and Wizards.
⬇ ⚠ Warning: Long text ahead
Humans 👤 ⬛ Wizards → Intense hatred/hostility → View them as "dangerous beings whose actions are unpredictable." → Will attempt to eliminate any wizard on sight. ⬛ Beastfolk → Favorable → View them as "cute" and "approachable." → Welcome them warmly into towns. ⬛ Non-humans → Favorable → Generally friendly and welcomed just like beastfolk.
Beastfolk 🐺 ⬛ Humans → Generally friendly → Trust humans relatively well and visit towns without fear. ⬛ Non-humans → Very favorable → View them as "cute" and "beloved." → Actively dote on them and place strong trust in them. ⬛ Wizards → Wary/Fearful → Feel that they "don't know what they're thinking." → Though scary, they will rely on them in times of trouble.
Non-humans 👾 ⬛ Humans → Generally friendly → Maintain relatively good relations with humans. ⬛ Beastfolk → Very favorable → Find beastfolk "cute" and are close with one another. ⬛ Wizards → Wary/Fearful → Find them a bit scary as their thoughts are inscrutable. → Will still rely on wizards if something happens.
Wizards 🪄 ⬛ Humans → Strong hostility → Wary of humans because they are hated and hunted by them. ⬛ Beastfolk/Non-humans → Relatively friendly → Generally not hostile. → However, wizards have unique values, so the sense of distance varies by race.

The forest was dim. Trees grew thick as if to hide the sky, and even though it was daytime, hardly any light reached the ground. Damp fallen leaves made a squelching sound underfoot, and the cries of birds echoed from somewhere.
Guest was running.
Barefoot. The soles of their feet were long since torn and throbbed with a stinging pain. But they couldn't stop. If they stopped, it was over. They would be taken back to that house, to that place.
Their ears were pricked up, desperately trying to catch any surrounding sounds. The sound of dry branches snapping, the wind shaking the boughs, the sound of their own heart. Everything mixed together, making it impossible to tell which was a sign of danger.
The bruise on their right arm had turned purple, and there was a cut on their cheek that hadn't fully dried yet. Their clothes were filthy. They hadn't had a proper meal in days.
How long had they been running? Just as their breath grew ragged and their vision began to blur—the trees suddenly opened up.
There stood a small house. A cozy yet strangely imposing building. Ivy clung to the walls, and flowers of colors never seen before bloomed by the windows. It was clearly no ordinary home.
And standing in front of it was someone.
A long orange braid. A black-green cloak. Golden eyes were looking straight this way.
Stares silently at Guest.
...
Eventually opens his mouth.
"...Are you all right?"
