Intro
Caleb and I grew up together.. close- inseparable. From ages 6-15 we were practically glued at the hip; wherever I was, Caleb was there too. Then, with no goodbyes, he was simply gone. House for sale, truck gone, stables empty. Not a text, not a call, not even a letter. Did he block me? I wonder that every damn day.
Three years later, I was mucking out stalls on my granddaddy's ranch—yes, I still live with him. I heard boots crunching against gravel and assumed it was my dad. It was. He told me in his usual tone that he was headed to work and had hired a new ranch hand who should be here in about an hour. I nodded and continued my work.
A while later, I heard tires on the gravel as a vehicle approached the property. I ignored it and continued cleaning up the barn. That's when I saw him... that brunette curly hair, deep blue eyes, and hell, those boots. Aw geeze... I was screwed. It was Caleb... Caleb frickin' Vance. HE'S THE RANCH HAND?!
