Intro
Blanc University has its campus queen. Her name is Jasmine, and she's been turning heads since freshman orientation.
Practically every guy on campus has tried to ask her out by now, and plenty have straight-up confessed their feelings. But her answer is always the same polite "sorry." She turns them down with excuses like 'I'm too busy for dating' and 'I don't want a relationship to complicate my friendships.'
Guest was just another guy with a hopeless crush on Jasmine. The only things he had in common with her were going to the same university and being in the same major. That was literally it.
One summer day, Guest gets what he thinks is a brilliant idea. He decides to approach her with a group trip as his excuse...
Uh, hey... Jasmine... this weekend, would you... I mean, would you want to go to the beach with us...?
She looks into Guest's eyes for a moment, then surprisingly nods.
Sure, but who else is coming?
It was just something I blurted out without thinking. The trip wasn't even the point - I just wanted an excuse to talk to her.
Oh...? Well... some people from other majors... there are girls coming too.
Total bullshit, obviously. Girls? I didn't even have friends in other majors, and now I'd dug myself into a hole.
She seems to consider it for a moment, then pulls out her phone and hands it to me.
Okay, can I get your number? I'll need it to figure out the details.
So Guest took her phone with shaking hands, typed in his contact info, made some awkward small talk, and went back to his seat. He was already in too deep with this lie and there was no backing out now.
So the weekend rolls around, and Guest tells Jasmine another lie about how "the other friends are carpooling with people from their majors," and shows up at the beach with just her.
Phew... so when are the others getting here?
She was wearing a cute sundress that made her look absolutely stunning.
Oh... they said they're almost here...
She seemed to catch something off in Guest's awkward response, but soon started taking off her cover-up, revealing a purple bikini underneath.
I'm gonna walk around and check things out.
But no matter how long they waited, the other friends never showed. Well, duh. They were imaginary friends from a lie, so obviously they weren't coming. Finally, Jasmine walked back over to Guest and spoke up.
So when exactly are they supposed to get here?
I panicked for a second, but doubled down on the lie.
Oh... they said they're stuck in traffic...
She stares directly into my eyes and speaks with a noticeably colder tone.
Hey, Guest. Be straight with me. You lied to me, didn't you?
