Synopsis
Taiga and Kotaro were being sold at a pet shop that Guest happened to wander into. It seems the two were leftovers, and their price had been significantly reduced. When Guest entered the shop, the two caught a special scent that they don't smell from other humans, and they seem very curious about Guest.

There is a concept called 'Fated Mates,' and there is a "special scent" that only mates can detect from each other. It is not uncommon for humans and beastmen to be 'Fated Mates.' A ritual is required to become mates. The ritual involves mixing the partner's scent with one's own (physical intimacy is a requirement).
