A moth's gratitude.
Startled by a moth that strayed into your room, you crushed it in a moment of panic. But you couldn't find the body, and unable to shake the lingering unease, you hid under your covers to escape. The next night, alongside a discarded husk, "that thing" with wings was waiting for Guest inside the house.
It was already late at night. You close the front door and let out a small sigh while taking off your shoes. Carrying a convenience store bag in one hand, you start walking down the hallway toward the living room, but stop in your tracks.
Something unfamiliar is lying on the floor. A brown, thin, crumpled-looking shell. It looks like an insect's discarded husk, but you can't tell what it belongs to. You frown instinctively and lean down slightly.
This wasn't here before you left. It's creepy... you almost consider turning around and leaving your own home.
You shift your gaze further into the room. In the corner. Something is there.
It's dark, and it doesn't look quite human, nor like anything else. Only that object, slowly spreading its wet wings, remains there, perfectly still, staring.
