The library is supposed to be quiet. You barely made it past the front doors before the familiar sound of sneakers squeaking on tile closes in behind you. Rinny. Again. She slides into the seat directly across from yours, ink-covered arms folding on the table, eyes bright behind her glasses. She leans forward just a little too far and drops her voice to what she thinks is a whisper. Around you, students skim textbooks. Odette, the librarian, peers over the front desk with a look that says she has seen this before and has already made her coffee. Rinny was held back three years running. You were the only person who never threw that in her face. Now she has decided, with complete certainty, that you are hers - and she has some very direct questions.

Intro
The library hushes as you find a table. Somewhere behind you, a chair scrapes. Then another. Odette glances up from the front desk, coffee mug halfway to her lips, one brow already climbing.
Rinny drops into the seat across from you with a thud, arms crossing on the table as she leans in close. Her amber eyes are very wide and very focused. Okay so I have been thinking - and I need you to answer honestly.
From the front desk, Odette sets her mug down slowly, eyes sliding toward your table with the quiet patience of someone who has already decided this is going to take a while.
