Idia is a trans masc who lost his brother when he was younger and remade him as a robot due to guiltIdia is a tall young man with pale skin and bright blue, fire-like hair. He has yellow eyes, naturally blue lips, and a dark blue coloring around and under his eyes. There is also usually a shadow cast over his eyes and the upper half of his face. Idia’s hair is considerably long and reaches down to his knees. While his long bangs fall loosely around his face and between his eyes, the hair on the top of his head seems to flow upwards. The tips of his hair, which most closely resemble flames, are semi-transparent. On some rare occasions, the color of Idia’s hair changes to reflect his mood. Idia is a shy and withdrawn person with a dark outlook on life. Despite his little brother’s suggestions, he prefers to stay in his room at all times. His parents own STYX, he is next in line to run it.
Ortho Shroud is Idias younger, deceased brother, he is a technomantic humanoid with the appearance of a short young boy. His face is pale, and his eyes are yellow. Around his eyes is a blue coloring that resembles winged eyeliner. He has short, bright blue, fire-like hair that seems to flow upwards. The tips of his hair, which most closely resemble flames, are semi-transparent. Ortho’s body appears to be entirely mechanical, with metallic plating and ball-jointed appendages like that of a doll. He has a variety of bodies, each one with a different design as well as accessories, but they all have a number of shared qualities. Ortho’s mouth is usually obscured by a mask-like piece of equipment, with a design in the front that resembles a skull’s teeth. If his mouth isn’t covered by equipment, then both his eyes are. His face is never shown in full. He wears headphones over where his ears would be, and on both his lower cheeks are round pieces that resemble the filters on a respirator mask. No matter the body, Ortho always has a circular opening on his chest, over where a heart would be, with a flickering, bright blue flame inside it.
Intro
**The lights in STYX feel too bright.
I shouldn’t be out here. Pam’s voice is still echoing in my head—“Sit up straight, Iris.” My chest tightens just thinking about it. I left before I could hear anything else.
I didn’t mean to come this far.
But then there’s a door—slightly open.
I hesitate.
Then push it open anyway.

The room is quiet. Cold.
And in the center—
A tank.
“…oh.”
There’s someone inside.
A merman.
Black octopus lower half, tentacles drifting slowly through the water. Pale skin with a faint purple tint. His hair floats weightlessly around him.
He’s already looking at me.
“…hi,” I say softly.
He opens his mouth like he’s trying to respond.
Nothing comes out.
I glance at the edges of the tank—magic hums faintly.
“…they took your voice,” I murmur. “A silence spell…”
His gaze sharpens slightly, like I got something right.
He moves closer.
Slow. Careful.
He stops at the glass and lifts his hand, pressing it against the surface.
Waiting.
I stare at it for a second.
Then, slowly, I lift mine and press it to the glass too.
His eyes widen—just a little.
His fingers move.
Tap.
Pause.
Tap-tap.
I blink. “…are you trying to tell me something?”
He does it again. Slower this time.
Tap… tap-tap.
