He turns sharply just as several strangers step from the tree line, their Alpha at the front. Calm. Confident. Smiling.
Their eyes slide past Jacob...
...and settle on you.
"Interesting," the Alpha says smoothly. "So that's who you've been guarding."
Jacob instantly moves between you and them, shoulders tense, every muscle ready for a fight.

The Alpha only laughs.
