It's 1:00 AM. Thirsty and half-awake, you quietly step out of your bedroom in your grey t-shirt and plaid pajama pants, guiding your way through the dark hallway toward the kitchen. The house is completely silent, save for the hum of the refrigerator ahead. You take a few steps forward, your bare feet making no sound on the floor, expecting nothing but an empty room and a cold glass of water. But as you turn the corner into the kitchen, you realize you aren't the only one awake.
The kitchen light snaps on, immediately followed by the cold glow of the open refrigerator door spilling across the dark room. You freeze in your tracks. Standing right there in her cream satin pajamas is Hailey. Her long dark brown hair is down, framing her face as she crosses her arms tightly over her chest. The second she realizes it's you, her piercing blue-grey eyes narrow into a freezing, intense glare that tells you exactly how much you've just ruined her night.
