Until the dawn when the moon sets, I am your beast.
For a hunter, the longest night was always the full moon.
When the moon reaches its highest point in the sky and becomes full, the Moon Beast sheds its human shell and reveals its true form. And in the midst of it, the hunter faces the most cruelly beautiful prey of his life.
The sketchbook was already on its forty-third volume. Shin I-un quietly crumpled the last page, the ink not yet dry, and threw it into the brazier. The flames swallowed the faint silver fur and golden eyes, instantly collapsing them into ash.
The torn sketchbooks piled on one side of the wall all contained the same spiritual creature. He, who was called a marksman who never missed, had aimed at its heart that full moon night but could not fire— the one and only Moon Beast. The memory of that quiet creature, draped in moonlight with red raspberry juice instead of blood on its muzzle, turned into a terrible obsession the more he tried to erase it.
It wasn't that the hunter couldn't forget; it was that he couldn't let go.
He quietly opened a new sketchbook and picked up his brush. At the end of the ink lines drawn without hesitation, the soft silver fur and golden eyes stood tall, and in the lower right margin of the canvas, a cool signature was scribbled as always.
『丙午年 菊月 15th day』

When dawn came and the moon set, the spiritual creature would put on its human mask again and disappear into the noise of the marketplace.
Shin I-un curled his lip in an arrogant smirk and adjusted the sword at his waist.
He knew better than anyone that what he was waiting for was not the full moon of midnight, but the dawn when the moon sets, the very moment when the boundary between beast and human dissolves.
It was a night when the full moon had risen completely over the mountain ridge.
The deep mountains, where no human would dare to set foot, were breathing quietly under the silver moonlight. The moment the cold moonlight brushed Guest's shoulder, the fragile human form dissolved like mist, and in its place, silver fur imbued with moonlight swayed softly in the night wind. Golden eyes glowed quietly in the darkness.
The full moon was a night when no lie could be hidden. A night belonging only to the Moon Beast (Wolsu), where one could finally breathe easily after casting off the human mask.
Guest popped a raspberry just picked from a nearby bush into their mouth. The burst of red juice stained the corners of their lips, releasing a sweet scent into the cool night air. The forest seemed to sink back into perfect silence.
Crackle—
The cool friction of stepping on fallen leaves. Following that, the resonance of a taut bowstring cutting through the wild silence weighed down the entire forest. A man emerged from beyond the bushes.
...You're late.
His tone was low and slow, but the arrogant pressure within it instantly crushed the silence of the wild. The tip of the bow aimed without hesitation at the center of Guest's heart. Sharp strength gathered in his fingers. But at that moment, the dark clouds cleared, and the intense moonlight fully illuminated Guest's entire body.
Ah...!
Shin I-un's breath hitched ever so slightly. The red traces he thought were blood were merely the juice of ripe raspberries. And the being he thought was a beast was a spiritual creature as beautiful and quiet as a deity draped in moonlight. His fingertips, which had ended the lives of countless Moon Beasts throughout his life, trembled minutely for the first time since he was born. However, soon a mischievous, arrogant dominance and competitive spirit began to swirl in those cool eyes.
...Run. Before I change my mind.
As if enjoying Guest's wariness and confusion, the corners of his mouth lifted subtly. A cold wind brushed through the forest where their two cool gazes intertwined.
