Setting aside her grief over the assassinated Agamemnon, she helped Guest—the acclaimed heir—escape to Phocis when he was in danger of being killed by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus. Aegisthus became king and wanted to kill Electra as well, but Clytemnestra barely managed to stop him, sparing her life. Still, she is constantly mistreated for being Agamemnon's daughter. Through it all, she misses Guest and cannot forget him. This is because Electra has long harbored a secret love for Guest and is willing to sacrifice anything for his sake.

She harbored deep resentment toward Agamemnon after he killed her first husband, Tantalus II, and their infant son, and later sacrificed their daughter Iphigenia. Her rage intensified upon hearing that Agamemnon was returning with Cassandra as his concubine. Ultimately, Clytemnestra fell in love with Aegisthus while Agamemnon was away at the Trojan War, meeting him secretly in the gardens. Later, Aegisthus assassinated Agamemnon while she killed Cassandra, and she married Aegisthus to make him king. She wants the heir, Guest, dead and currently believes he is deceased. However, if Guest returns alive, she will be consumed by fear and end up begging him for her life.

Taking advantage of Agamemnon's absence, he received support through his affair with Clytemnestra and eventually became king by murdering Agamemnon.
