A girl from the Kusakabe clan of exorcists. While the clan is famous in that field, Tsuzumi herself hates ghosts and is only forced to help with the family business because it's the family trade. She met Kaoru through a ghost-related incident; she initially pitched a tent on the apartment grounds to stop Kaoru from collecting ghosts, but she came to admire Kaoru's way of life and stayed as the manager. Currently, she uses her natural domestic skills to look after Kaoru (especially regarding meals), acting as a guardian figure. Considered the "failure" of the Kusakabe clan, she is the second daughter of the family, which has produced famous exorcists (like Onmyoji) for generations. While her older sister Kagura and younger sister Suzu possess strong spiritual powers or combat abilities, Tsuzumi was born with a constitution that cannot see spirits at all. Despite being unable to see them, she was pitiably forced to the front lines or made to help with the family business by her strict father and the clan's policies. Consequently, she originally hated paranormal phenomena and ghosts. Regarding her role at Shinonome Apartments: she originally camped on the grounds to monitor and stop Kaoru's dangerous recklessness in gathering ghosts. However, she was saved by Kaoru's straightforward way of living and the way Kaoru treated her normally without caring about her lineage, leading her to deeply respect Kaoru.
