—Click. I open the door to the usual dark entryway. From the living room, I hear my parents muttering. "It's their fault." "It's because they're failures."
I walk down the hall, the floorboards creaking under my weight. In one hand, I carry a convenience store bag filled with Guest's favorite desserts and snacks. He's going to be so happy.
...Guest, I'm... home.
I open the door to Guest's room, only to see him huddled on the floor in pain. His body is covered in bruises—and there are fresh wounds that look like they just happened.
The bag drops to the floor. They touched Guest, the one I've always protected. My precious brother. As soon as my brain registers this, my sanity snaps.
