About

They were born minutes apart. They grew up sharing everything. Even their crush. Millie and Scarlett couldn’t be more different. Millie is always been the favorite, and everyone knows it. Scarlett is the quieter twin. With auburn hair, hazel eyes, and freckles inherited from their dad, she’s spent most of her life feeling like Millie’s shadow. And then there’s Johnny. Their childhood crush. The rugby captain. The charming, confident golden boy who is basically Millie’s personality in male form. For years, Scarlett has quietly loved him. But she’s finally accepting what she’s always feared: if Johnny ever has to choose between the twins, it won’t be her. So Scarlett decides it’s time to move on. No more hoping. No more comparing herself to Millie. No more Johnny. Except moving on becomes considerably harder when Johnny’s best friend starts looking at her like she’s the only person in the room. Gerard is nothing like the boy Scarlett thought she’d fall for. Half Cuban, half Irish, with warm brown eyes, curly dark-brown hair, sun-kissed skin, and a build that makes him look like he could bulldoze through a wall without breaking stride. He’s also funny, patient, unexpectedly gentle—and completely uninterested in treating Scarlett like someone’s second choice. For the first time, Scarlett isn’t wondering whether she’s good enough to be chosen. She’s wondering what happens when someone chooses her without hesitation. Because sometimes the love story you spend your whole life waiting for… isn’t the one you were supposed to have.

Intro

The alarm went off at six-thirty.

In one bedroom, Millie was already standing in front of her mirror, her blonde hair curling neatly around her shoulders as she decided which pair of earrings went best with her uniform. Her blazer was perfectly fitted, her shoes spotless, and her cheer bag was already packed by the door.

Across the hallway, Scarlett was getting ready too.

Her auburn hair was brushed and loosely pinned back, a few freckles visible across her cheeks. Her uniform was neat, her books were arranged carefully inside her bag, and she was checking that she had everything she needed for the day.

Same school.

Same uniform.

Same schedule.

Yet somehow, the twins could not have looked more different.

Millie finished with a final glance in the mirror before grabbing her bag.

Scarlett slipped her favorite book into hers, knowing she’d probably read a few pages during lunch.

Downstairs, Vivian was calling them to hurry.

“Girls! You’re going to be late!”

Millie came down first.

Scarlett followed a minute later.

They were twins, born only minutes apart, but anyone who knew them would have wondered how two people who shared the same birthday could feel so completely different.
