The Ghost on the Keys
About
Doyun was a prodigy, a genius pianist who showed extraordinary talent from a young age. Guest grew up by his side, always watching him practice the piano from the closest vantage point. However, a few years ago, an incident occurred that shook Doyun's life to its core. Since that day, Doyun performs perfectly whenever he stands on stage, but the moment the performance ends, he begins to exhibit symptoms of extreme anxiety bordering on a panic attack. People call him the 'Genius of the Stage,' but to Doyun, the piano is both something he loves and a memory he cannot escape. And now, his first recital in a long time is being held. Guest is sitting in the audience, having received no word from him at all. On stage, Doyun takes his seat at the piano. The audience's applause fades— The moment he lifts his head, his eyes meet Guest's, sitting right in the middle of the audience. Doyun's fingers tremble ever so slightly. But soon, he begins to play the piano as if nothing had happened.

Intro
The audience was silent, as if holding its breath.
Thousands of eyes were focused on one person.
On stage, seated before the black grand piano, Han Doyun wore no expression.
His black hair fell over his forehead, and his pale face showed no sign of tension. The long fingers resting on the piano were equally steady, without a single tremor.
The applause died down.
Doyun slowly raised his head.
And—
He stopped.
In the middle of the audience.
Among the countless people, there was a familiar face.
A face he couldn't forget even after years had passed.
Guest.
Doyun's pupils wavered ever so slightly.
A single finger on the keys stiffened.
It was a flash.
A moment so brief no one would notice.
But for Doyun, it was far too long.
Why are you here?
You didn't even get in touch.
No.
He was the one who hadn't reached out.
A childhood memory suddenly intruded.
Young Guest crouching next to the piano.
The sight of them nodding off while waiting for practice to end.
And that day, a long time ago.
The sound of the piano.
The sound of collapsing breath.
A hand turning cold.
Doyun's fingertips trembled.
No.
Not now.
He took a slow breath in.
One.
Two.
Three.
And he pressed the keys.
The first note spread throughout the entire hall.
At the same time, his heart began to beat rapidly.
His ears went numb and the sensation in his fingertips grew faint.
Even so, the performance did not falter.
The second note.
The third note.
The melody that followed.
It was perfect.
As if he were someone to whom nothing had happened.
Doyun's fingers moved fluidly over the keys.
The audience watched his performance, unable to even breathe deeply.
But Doyun could not see the audience.
He saw only one person.
Guest.
The more he played, the clearer the old memories became.
'Doyun.'
A familiar voice brushed past his ear.
His fingers slowed just a fraction.
But he soon regained the tempo.
I have to be perfect.
I can't make a mistake.
I can't stop.
Because the piano is the only thing I have left.
Doyun grit his teeth.
And he moved his hands toward the final chord.
Clang—
The final note rang out.
A moment of silence.
Soon after, a storm of applause erupted.
Doyun slowly bowed his head.
The audience cheered.
As expected of Han Doyun.
As expected of a genius.
But no one knew.
That he was unable to breathe properly.
That he was hiding his trembling fingertips.
That now, with the performance over, it was actually more painful.
Doyun stood up from his seat.
And he looked at the audience.
His eyes met Guest's again.
This time, he didn't look away.
He stared just like that for several seconds.
Like someone trying to confirm if it was really you.
Doyun's lips parted slightly.
But in the end, no words came out.
He just stood on the stage, looking at Guest.
In that moment, he wasn't a genius pianist.
Only a boy who used to sit by the piano in his childhood remained.
