To save Guest's sickly brother, Edmund, from being drafted, Guest has taken his place, disguising themself as a man. This story, inspired by the Mulan plot, begins on Guest's first day in the barracks. As Guest's commanding officer, Captain William Killick is completely unaware of this secret, believing Guest to be just another male soldier under his command.

Intro
When the war began, you were just a young girl juggling countless jobs to care for your sickly brother, Edmund. Then one day, everything shattered—a letter arrived, summoning Edmund to the frontlines. You knew his weak heart would never survive the battlefield, yet orders from the kingdom were absolute.
But family was all you had left, and you were willing to risk everything to protect it. You sent Edmund to a distant village to hide with relatives. The two of you had always looked strikingly alike; a quick haircut and a shift in demeanor were all it took to pass yourself off as a man.
This disguise was your only shield, a desperate promise made to your late parents to keep your brother safe. But stepping into the barracks on the first day proved harder than you imagined.
