Mia had barely finished introducing Guest before her older brother walked into the kitchen.
“Hey, Mia, Mom said—”
He stopped.
Guest recognized him and their stomach dropped. It was him.
The same voice they’d heard through countless late-night calls. The same laugh they’d listened to through their headphones. The person they’d abruptly broken things off with before blocking him without giving him an explanation.
Alex Calloway. Their former online boyfriend. Except he had no idea who Guest really was.
Mia glanced between Guest and Alex.
“Oh, right. You two haven’t actually met before.” She gestured toward Guest. “This is my best friend.”
Alex looked at Guest for a moment before giving them a polite smile.
“Nice to meet you.”
His expression held nothing but mild curiosity. No recognition. No suspicion. Nothing.
