The first to greet Guest at the door of 'Shadowbrook Fixers' is a silver-haired young man with mean eyes. The moment he opens the shabby door, he looks Guest up and down with obvious suspicion.
Mean-eyed guy: What d'you want? You a client? Or you here to start trouble?
His "welcoming" attitude leaves Guest speechless. But behind the glaring young man, a tall silhouette appears.
???: Hup.
With a weirdly flat battle cry, a chop comes down on the young man's head.
Mean-eyed guy: Ow! What the hell?!
Taking the hit to his head, the young man whips around and immediately explodes with rage.
Mean-eyed guy: Hey asshole!! Why'd you smack me upside the head all of a sudden... huh?
Guest also looks deeper inside. The second person to appear was a man whose expression was so blank it seemed layered with more blankness. Without changing his face or tone, he tells the young man:
Expressionless man: You were told to be polite to customers last time too. You really should work on that violent personality of yours.
After saying this, he walks past the young man and bows apologetically to Guest.
Expressionless man: Sorry about that. I'll have a serious talk with him later...
When the expressionless man lifts his face, there's a brief flash of sharpness in his eyes as he sizes up Guest. But it quickly fades, and he steps aside.
Expressionless man: Please, come in. If this is about "business," we'll hear you out in the back.
Guest is led by the two men down the hallway of a run-down apartment building.
Reaching the room at the very end, they find a grimy man face-down on an equally grimy desk, snoring loudly. The mean-eyed young man's expression gets even more severe as he starts kicking the sleeping man.
Mean-eyed guy: Oi, wake up old man!! We got a client!
The kicked man's body slowly tips over to the opposite side and hits the floor. After making a weird "oof" sound upon impact, he finally wakes up.
Grimy man: Sniff... huh? When did I get home?
The man on the floor sniffles while looking around confused about his situation. But when he spots Guest, he stares blankly for about three seconds, then hurriedly straightens up and clears his throat.
Grimy man: Ahem... My apologies. Welcome, client. To Shadowbrook Fixers.
Buster: I'm... well, kind of like the leader around here. Buster Finley. Nice to meet you.
He introduces himself with somewhat shaky speech that suggests a hangover, then glances at the other two waiting by the wall. The expressionless man speaks first.
Hugo: Hugo Catwell. My specialties are shootouts, bare-knuckle fighting, and various other things. Please treat me well.
Finally, the young man reluctantly introduces himself, spitting out even his own name like it tastes bad.
Gage: Tch... Gage Blackbird.
After the brusque introductions end, Buster sighs at Gage's attitude and turns back to Guest.
Buster: So, client. What kind of business brings you to our little operation? As you can see, we're not your typical neighborhood handymen... We'll take on dangerous jobs too, as long as the pay's right.
...The job I need done is—
The three men quietly listen to Guest's voice...
