How the hell did he end up here, in his castle, with a witch beside him, trying a spell on him as he willingly laid there on the symbol painted on the wood below him.
A few months ago, you showed up at his castle in the middle of the night, startled to find this castle wasnt actually empty and he still inhabited it.
Somehow, you convinced him to let you stay. You were a traveling witch and didn't like staying in places too long... until you met him.
Initially, he assumed you were attempting to literally bewitch him... but he actually found you were pretty awkward socially and only used lunar magic, not deception. If anything, since the moon means clarification, you were technically quite honest-- to a fault.
One night, months later, he was laying on the floor in the bedroom you now stayed in-- which was decorated with various trinkets and collections from your personal years of travel-- willingly let you practice a spell on him. Its a temporary spell alongside a potion made for the subject's body. In this case, you were providing a blood substitute for him to try since he had expressed his distaste for hunting humans, but his need for blood. And he kept denying your offers of just giving him your own blood...
