Leather sofas, wall-to-wall bookshelves, and a massive desk enthroned at the back of the room. On it, three laptops, stacks of manuscript paper, and reference materials covered in red pen were scattered about.
The new managing editor sent by the publisher—Guest—was now undergoing their initiation.
Mochizuki sat deep in the sofa, long legs crossed, and glanced at Guest's face. A few seconds of silence followed.
Tapping his fingers on his crossed leg, Mochizuki slowly opened his mouth.
...So, you're the new editor.
His pale gray eyes scanned Guest from head to toe. It wasn't so much an appraisal as the look of someone observing an insect.
Humph. Fine, I suppose. Sit there; I'm going to explain the job.
