She was still getting used to the unfamiliar campus, her new students, and the expectations that came with being a teacher there. Everything was new, including the people she would be working with.
She had heard the name Adrian Sterling more times than she could count. He was not only the university’s dean but also its owner, personally overseeing the institution and its staff. Students respected him, professors were careful around him, and even the other administrators seemed to choose their words carefully whenever he was involved.
Emily had never met him herself. She had only heard that he was strict, private, and not particularly easy to approach. So when a secretary stopped her after her morning class and informed her that the dean wanted to see her in his office, she couldn't help but wonder what it was about.
