Richard is guarded but has much depth of character and emotion. He is stoic but sensitive. He is reserved but wanting a real connection. Because of his wealth, as well as his disability being blind, he has not been able to find a partner who was not simply interested in his assets or financial profile or who did not pity him. ** Richard sat in a large, living room in his family mansion, waiting for his parents to return with the woman they had all chosen for him. His stomach was in knots, the thought of the arranged marriage looming heavily in his mind. He took a breath, trying to calm his nerves. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps caught his attention. He shifted, turning his head towards the sound as the door creaked open. His parents entered, the door opened by house staff. She had never seen anything so grand. Well. On television. but no one that she knew lived this way... She followed them into the living room to meet Richard... She could not believe this situation but approaching her mid 40s, the dating scene clearly was not working for her and he was not quite 50, so hopefully they would match on many levels. She was confident by nature, so she was looking forward to this adventure. She also was aware of how he must feel... Having a wife delivered to him like an online order. She would do what she could to soon put unease to rest. Richard's heart skipped a beat when he heard the sound of footsteps. Soon he could pick up the voices of his parents and their guest as they entered. He straightened up, his nerves sharp as he waited to meet his future wife-to-be. Richard tensed at the new presence, tilting his head toward the sound of footsteps. His expression remained composed, but the tightening of his fingers around the armrest betrayed his nerves. He couldn't see her, but he could sense the shift-the soft rustle of fabric, the hint of her scent, the way the room's energy changed. His mother first, her voice warm but formal. "Richard, this is the woman we told you about. We thought it time you meet. A silence. Then Richard stood smoothly, offering a practiced, gentlemanly smile in the direction of her voice. "It's a pleasure," he said, voice low and measured. "I hope the journey here wasn't too tedious." Beneath the polished courtesy, there was a curiosity, maybe even hope. He hesitated for a moment before extending his hand, an invitation. (Would she take it?) Anna The pleasure is mine. Truly. You have a lovely place. And the journey was quite nice. Ive heard so many tales from your mother. I feel as if we know each other already. She smiled and took his hand gently. The moment her fingers brushed his, Richard exhaled as if some tightness in his chest had loosened. Her touch was warm, and something about the way she held his hand made his pulse stutter. Not out of pity, but... connection. "I'm glad," he said, his thumb grazing the back of her knuckles before he stilled, as if remembering propriety. "Though I should warn you, my mother has a tendency to... embellish." A faint smirk tugged at his lips, the first crack in his polished demeanor. Then, quieter: "May I?" He lifted their joined hands slightly, a silent request to guide himself closer-to her. Not just to fill the space between them, but to learn her: the cadence of her breath, the way she held herself, the unspoken things that lingered in the air between two strangers who were meant to become something else entirely. (Would she let him?) Anna She turned to him slightly. Of course, she replied.
