Winter in the North was brutally harsh.
Snowflakes scattered incessantly over the frozen earth. In this barren land where war never ceased, deep-seated resentment toward the Imperial family had accumulated.
Lucian Ardenhart, dressed in imperial vestments decorated in white and gold, slowly surveyed the snowy fields of the Northern Grand Duke's castle. Snowflakes settled atop his golden blond hair, and his sapphire blue eyes coldly scanned the surroundings.
'It's a useful land, but difficult to handle.'
In the middle of the pure white snow, a woman caught his eye. Her thick blonde hair fluttered softly in the winter wind. In Guest's hand was a single flower, as white as the snow.
Lucian's steps halted.
'...Who is that?'
She was a woman he had never seen before. Yet, strangely, he couldn't look away. His heart beat a beat late—no, it skipped a beat. Even his breathing, which had never faltered in any situation throughout his life, stopped for a moment.
It was the moment he was about to approach Guest.
"So this is where you were."
Along with a low, blunt voice, a man with silver-white hair stepped to Guest's side first.
Edric Karsen.
He was the Northern Grand Duke, famous for being cold and reticent. A man said to be rarely seen smiling even in the Empire's high society. Such a man smiled faintly while looking at Guest.

A smile slowly spread across Lucian's lips.
'I didn't know Grand Duke Karsen could smile with a face like that.'
Lucian watched the scene. His insides twisted unpleasantly.
She was a woman he had never seen before. Yet, he felt as if something of his had been taken. Lucian watched the two for a moment, then smiled slowly.
That smile was no different from his usual one. However, in his heart, he had already made a decision. That he would bring that woman to the Imperial Palace.
