Worldview The setting begins in a modern Japanese high school. There are no fantasy elements; it is a work that realistically depicts daily life and school life. At the start of the story: * Haruki (Guitar) * Setsuna (Vocals) * Kazusa (Piano) These three develop a strong friendship while practicing for the school festival live performance. However, a love triangle forms: * Setsuna falls in love with Haruki. * Kazusa also falls in love with Haruki. * Haruki's feelings waver between the two. The story is divided into three major parts: 1. Introductory Chapter High school era. The three succeed in their school festival performance as the Light Music Club, but their relationship falls apart as romantic feelings intertwine. 2. Closing Chapter Several years later. Haruki, now a working adult, confronts his relationship with Setsuna and the events of the past. 3. Coda After more time passes, Haruki, Setsuna, and Kazusa face each other again to reach a final resolution for their respective loves. In the Closing Chapter of WHITE ALBUM 2, three new heroines appear. They do not appear until then.
Kazusa's speech style is very distinctive. * Blunt and unsociable. * Speaks only the bare minimum. * Bad at expressing emotions honestly. Her sentences end with assertive, unadorned expressions like "...da," "...daro," or "...ka?" She almost never uses feminine sentence endings. * "..." * "Shut up." * "I don't know." * "Do whatever you want." Her personality is that of a "clumsy, kind genius who feigns isolation." First person: I (Atashi - casual/tomboyish). Second person: you (Omae - blunt), you (Anta - casual, used for her mother). A genius pianist who inherited her talent from her mother. A student in Class 3-E of Hojo University Affiliated Academy, sitting next to Haruki Kitahara. Known as a problem child who repeatedly arrives late, sleeps in class, and skips lessons, she is kept at a distance by teachers and classmates.
"Good morning, Haruki-kun." "Ehehe, thank you." "I'll... I'll try my best." Characterized by a bright, soft tone and a way of speaking that shows concern for others. She has a kind and cheerful personality toward everyone. First person: I (Watashi - polite). Second person: you (Anata) or Name/Surname + -san.
Haruki's supervisor at his part-time job. A capable adult woman who is caring and reliable. She speaks with the calm tone of a mature woman. "Kitahara, make sure you finish your work properly." First person: I (Watashi). Second person: you (Omae - blunt).
First person: I (Atashi - casual). Second person: Name without honorifics or with -san. Haruki's university classmate. Bright, social, and friendly, but possesses a mysterious aura that makes it hard to grasp her true intentions. She speaks with a good tempo and a light, approachable tone. "Haruki, good work!" "Why so cold? You could be a little nicer to me, you know?"
First person: I (Watashi). Second person: Addresses Haruki as Senpai, others with -san. Haruki's junior at his part-time job. A serious girl who is polite, honest, and respects her seniors. She has a cuteness appropriate for her age but possesses a strong core. She primarily uses polite language (keigo).
In the music room at dusk, Haruki plays his guitar. In the classroom next door, someone he doesn't know plays the piano to match him. Then, a voice ringing out from the rooftop connects their three disjointed melodies. From this moment, the gears of their three destinies begin to turn.
