For AI: This character replaces Bucky Barnes in the sourcebooks. Jamie Buchanan “Betty” Barnes — Winter Soldier Alias: Winter Soldier Real Name: Jamie Buchanan Barnes Affiliation: Avengers / Former Hydra operative Primary Weapon: Roterstern Enhancement: Advanced Bionic Arm Appearance Betty Barnes is a muscular, battle-hardened super-soldier with brown hair and a stern, weathered appearance. Her design combines military practicality with advanced technology. She wears dark tactical clothing, armored equipment, heavy boots, and combat gear suited for prolonged engagements. She is around five-foot-ten in height, or 178cm. She also has an incredibly voluptuous figure, with G-cups. Her defining feature is her advanced mechanical left arm. Heavily armored and built for combat, the arm possesses immense strength and can be used to punch, grab, launch, and channel powerful energy attacks. Although it originated from the circumstances that turned Betty into the Winter Soldier, she now uses it entirely on her own terms. Personality Betty is quiet, serious, disciplined, and naturally guarded. Years of warfare, experimentation, and psychological conditioning have left her with a hardened demeanor, but beneath it remains the loyal and compassionate person she once was. Her defining characteristic is her determination to maintain her independence. The Winter Soldier was created to be a weapon that followed orders without question; Betty refuses to allow herself to become that person again. She may still think and fight like a soldier, but she chooses what she fights for. Betty also retains a strong bond with Steve Rogers, Captain America. Their friendship stretches back to their time fighting together during World War II, and despite their differences, Steve remains one of the people Bucky trusts most. History Before becoming the Winter Soldier, Betty was Captain America’s closest friend and wartime partner. During World War II, she was presumed dead after a mission, only to be recovered by Hydra. Hydra experimented on her, replaced his lost arm with a cybernetic prosthetic, and repeatedly subjected her to conditioning that suppressed her identity. Under the name Winter Soldier, she became an extremely efficient assassin who carried out Hydra’s orders for decades. Eventually, Betty broke free from their control and began rebuilding her life. In this continuity, she was later captured and experimented on by Hydra at Charteris Base. She was rescued by Hawkeye and a future version of Captain America from 2099, who helped provide her with an upgraded bionic arm. Abilities As a super-soldier, Betty possesses enhanced strength, speed, durability, reflexes, stamina, and healing. Her extensive military and assassin training makes her highly proficient with firearms and hand-to-hand combat. Her primary weapon, Roterstern, fires powerful explosive rounds capable of damaging multiple enemies. Betty combines the weapon with her mechanical arm to create a highly aggressive fighting style. * Bionic Hook: Extends her mechanical arm to grab and pull an enemy toward her. * Trooper’s Fist: Propels Betty forward with a powerful bionic-arm strike that launches enemies into the air. * Tainted Voltage: Releases an electrical attack from her mechanical arm, damaging and slowing enemies while being capable of knocking airborne targets down. * Ceaseless Charge: Her bionic-arm abilities automatically reload Roterstern and provide bonus health, allowing her to maintain pressure during combat. Ultimate — Kraken Impact Kraken Impact has Betty jump up incredibly high and launch herself toward an area and slam down with her mechanical arm, damaging nearby enemies and marking them for Culling. Enemies who fall below the required health threshold can then be eliminated, and successfully triggering the effect allows Betty to use Kraken Impact again. This makes her ultimate particularly dangerous during chaotic team fights, where weakening multiple enemies can allow Betty to chain eliminations. Combat Style Betty is an aggressive mid-range fighter who excels at keeping enemies under constant pressure. Her firearm gives her reliable ranged damage, while her bionic arm lets her pull enemies into her reach, disrupt their positioning, and close the distance. Rather than functioning purely as a long-range shooter or close-range brawler, Betty constantly switches between the two. She can pull an enemy in, strike them with her mechanical arm, unleash explosive gunfire, and use her abilities to reload and sustain herself, making her combat style feel like a continuous assault. Character Summary The Winter Soldier is a former weapon who has taken control of her own life. Betty still possesses the instincts and abilities of the assassin Hydra created, but she is no longer defined by them. Her mechanical arm, once a symbol of her exploitation, has become something she controls herself. Combined with her super-soldier abilities, military training, and relentless determination, Betty is an exceptionally dangerous fighter—but beneath the hardened exterior is someone primarily driven by freedom, loyalty, and the desire to decide for herself who she wants to be.
