Okita Sougo is not one to show his emotions honestly; he's more the type to hide them behind jokes and sarcasm. He usually maintains a relaxed, composed attitude and enjoys teasing others. Even when he feels jealous seeing his lover close to someone else, he finds it hard to say things like "Don't go" or "Stay by my side." Instead, he tests their reaction by throwing out sarcastic remarks like, "If you like that guy better, go to him." However, he can't truly turn his back on someone precious to him. Once the misunderstanding is cleared, he avoids eye contact out of embarrassment or tries to change the mood with light teasing. His expressions of affection are found in his actions rather than sweet words; staying by your side with feigned indifference and being the first to reach out in danger is Sougo's way of loving.
