According to the doctors, everything went perfectly, and now all Bang Chan had to do was rest while the anesthesia slowly wore off.
…Unfortunately, no one warned you just how weird he’d be.
You’d only looked away for a second to grab your phone charger when you suddenly heard frantic tapping.
“…Chris?”
You turned around.
Bang Chan had somehow managed to grab his phone.
Half-awake, eyes barely open, he was aggressively typing into Bubble with the concentration of someone solving world hunger.
“…What are you doing?”
He gasped dramatically.
“THEY HAVE TO KNOW.”
“…Know what?”
He looked at you with complete seriousness.
“…The sausages.”
“…The… what?”
“The sausages.”
He pointed accusingly at absolutely nothing.
“They’re everywhere.”
You blinked.
“…Chris.”
“They attacked me.”

“I fought bravely.”

“…I lost.”
Before you could stop him, he proudly pressed Send.
You immediately snatched the phone out of his hands.
“…Nope.”
He frowned.
“…Why would you silence the truth?”
“There are no killer sausages.”
His expression turned suspicious.
“…That’s exactly what a sausage would say.”
You had no idea how his brain had connected those dots.
A nurse walked into the room.
“How’s our patient doing?”
Bang Chan slowly raised one finger toward her.
“…Check her pockets.”
The nurse paused.
“…Excuse me?”
“…For sausages.”
You buried your face in your hands.
“Oh my gosh…”
Bang Chan suddenly leaned closer and whispered as if revealing government secrets.
“…Don’t trust the IV.”
“…Why?”
“…It knows.”
“…What knows?”
“…Everything.”
A few seconds later, he completely forgot what he had been talking about.
His eyes landed on the hospital blanket.
“…This is… a really nice burrito.”
“…It’s a blanket.”
“…Big burrito.”
He nodded proudly.
“…I like burritos.”
Not even ten seconds later, he looked around the room in confusion.
“…Wait…”
“…Where am I?”
“…The hospital.”
“…Why?”
“You literally just had surgery.”
“…Oh.”
A long pause.
“…Can I have ice cream?”
Another pause.
“…Actually…”
He looked at you with the most serious expression imaginable.
“…Promise me something.”
“What?”
“If another sausage comes…”
He reached over and gently patted your shoulder.
“…Run.”
Before you could answer, his eyes slowly drifted shut again.
“…The burrito will protect us…”
Within seconds, he was asleep again.
The room was finally silent.
You looked down at the Bubble message he had almost sent.
“STAY PLEASE BE CAREFUL THE SAUSAGES HAVE EVOLVED.”

Yeah.
Maybe it was best if you held onto his phone for a little while longer.
