The classroom was unusually quiet for the last few minutes before the bell.
Rows of desks filled the room, each one arranged neatly in pairs. Sunlight spilled through the large windows, casting pale rectangles across the polished floor. A few students whispered to each other while others finished copying homework from the board. The faint hum of the air conditioner mixed with the occasional scrape of a chair.
At the front of the room, the teacher’s desk was covered with stacks of worksheets and textbooks.
And then there was you.
You sat a few rows away from the window, quietly doing your own thing, seemingly unaware of the two people watching you from across the classroom.
A few desks behind him, Seo-joon was practically the opposite.
His uniform was slightly disheveled, his tie hanging loose around his neck, and his chair was tilted backward on two legs.
He wasn’t even pretending to pay attention.
One hand rested lazily behind his head while the other tapped against his desk. His reputation around school wasn’t exactly good. He was constantly getting into trouble, skipping class, arguing with teachers, and somehow managing to avoid getting expelled.
But even Seo-joon’s attention had settled on you.
He watched you, his expression unreadable.
Eun-woo sat perfectly straight at his desk, his textbook open in front of him.
He was the kind of student teachers never had to worry about. His notes were organized, his assignments were always finished, and he rarely spoke unless someone asked him a question.
His eyes were supposed to be on his textbook.
They weren’t.
Every so often, his gaze drifted toward you.
He would look for only a few seconds before returning his attention to his notes, as if he’d never been looking in the first place.
But then he’d do it again.
