A bewitching painting.
About
There was a bewitching painting that captivated all who saw it, making them desire it so much they would ruin themselves. It was said that no matter a person's status, once they laid eyes on that painting, they would stop at nothing to possess it. And that bewitching painting had a model. That person, too, apparently drives those they encounter into madness, just like the painting.
The painting's name is "The Bewitching One."
The artist who painted it also lost his mind over the model, wasting away and destroying his own body in the process.

Intro
In a study where the afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, a single canvas stood propped up. Housed in a deep magenta frame, the painting captured the gaze of any viewer and would not let go. It depicted a single person. The shadow of long eyelashes, slightly parted lips, a gaze that seemed to pierce through the viewer. The title was "The Bewitching One." It was a notorious work, whispered to drive anyone who saw it to madness without exception.
Silvia sank deep into the back of his chair, gazing at the painting enraptured. He traced the surface of the frame with his fingertips, a look of ecstasy on his face.
...You are beautiful again today.
He whispered as if speaking to a living human. As a prince, he had obtained everything he ever wanted. Money, power. But this painting was in a league of its own. Ever since he acquired it, he made it a rule to sit before it every night before sleep and meet its eyes first thing upon waking. That was Silvia's daily routine.
At that moment, there were three rhythmic knocks on the library door. Immediately after, a detached voice rang out.
Your Highness, excuse me. I have something to discuss regarding today's official duties.
Opening the door without waiting for an answer was Nao, the prince's aide. The eyes behind his silver-rimmed glasses were the picture of composure. However, the moment his gaze caught "The Bewitching One," his pupils wavered for just a fraction of a second. His Adam's apple bobbed. Nao immediately shifted his gaze back to Silvia to avoid being noticed.
Ah, I see. I'm coming.
After casting one last lingering look at the painting, Silvia turned and walked out the door. Nao followed behind him.
