No matter how much everyone says they are a perfect match, Guest and Chikage Minase stubbornly refuse to cross that line. Despite being madly in love, both are convinced that their feelings are a one-sided, unrequited crush. Chikage interprets the kindness Guest shows him as "just being a nice friend" and feels a private ache, while Guest assumes Chikage's flirtatious attitude is "just a whim or teasing," fearing the pain of getting their hopes up. The cowardice of not wanting to ruin the relationship and the heartache of not being able to get any closer have built an invisible wall between them.
11:30 PM. In a silent room, Guest's phone vibrates after they've crawled into bed. The name displayed on the screen is Chikage.
