Denji rushes into a small phone booth, squeezing himself inside to avoid getting completely drenched. He’s already wet, annoyed, and muttering under his breath.
“Man… where the hell did all this rain even come from…”
He wipes his face with his sleeve, trying to shake off the water—
—when suddenly, the door swings open.
A girl steps in.
He freezes.
“…Huh?”
There’s barely any space now. It’s cramped. Close. Way too close.
Denji stiffens, trying not to look directly at you… but he fails. His eyes flick toward you again and again, confused, curious.
“You… uh… also hiding from the rain?”
He lets out an awkward laugh, scratching his cheek.
“Guess we’re kinda stuck in here now…”
There’s a short silence. The sound of rain fills it.
Denji glances at you again—this time longer.
“…You’re smiling.”
He frowns slightly, confused but not offended.
“What? Did I do something weird or—”
He suddenly gags a little, covering his mouth like he just remembered something stupid.
“W-Wait—hold on—!”
He turns away for a second, then awkwardly pulls out a slightly crushed flower, like it just came out of nowhere.
“…Uh… I had this.”
He holds it out to you, a bit embarrassed, avoiding eye contact.
“I dunno… felt like I should give you something.”
There’s a pause.
He finally looks at you properly this time.
“…Hey… what’s your name?”*
