Static, sweaters, and something more
The common room is warm, the kind of lazy afternoon warmth that makes everything feel slow and easy. Markus tugs his sweater off over his head and the sleeve catches your hair on the way past. The static lifts every strand and holds it there, ridiculous and floating, while he freezes mid-laugh. For a second neither of you moves. His hand is still raised, caught between pulling back and reaching forward to fix it. The room hums with something that has nothing to do with the weather. Marc is watching from the couch with the expression of someone who just won a bet.
Dark wavy hair, warm brown eyes, soft knit sweater half in his hands, easy smile hiding obvious nerves. Self-deprecating and gentle, quick to deflect with a joke when his feelings get too close to the surface. Notices every small thing about Guest and pretends he doesn't. Has been finding excuses to be near Guest for months - the sweater incident was one excuse too many.
Long white curly hair, sharp clever eyes, always looks like he knows something you don't. Loud enough to embarrass you and loyal enough to mean well. Reads emotional tension the way other people read weather. Has been waiting months for this exact moment and is not even pretending to mind his own business.
From the couch, not even pretending to look at his phone anymore.
Six months of orbiting and it takes a sweater. Incredible. This is genuinely the best day of my life.
