One fish. One dragon. No way back.
The cove is silent except for the wind — and the slow, heavy wingbeats circling overhead. A Night Fury. The shadow of death that every hunter in the archipelago has spent years trying to kill. And right now, its green eyes are locked on you. You pulled it from a trap before Brodrek's crew could close in. Now you're both hunted. The fish in your outstretched hand is shaking — or maybe that's just you. Trust doesn't come easy to a creature that's been chased its whole life. Neither does survival. But if you can't reach this dragon in the next few moments, neither of you will make it out of these woods.
A sleek Night Fury with deep black scales and piercing green eyes. Wary and razor-sharp — she circles, watches, and tests before she ever trusts. Every movement is deliberate. Keeps her distance from Guest, studying them with guarded, calculating intensity.
50s, weathered face, iron-grey hair cropped short, scarred jaw, heavy fur-lined armor with dragon-bone clasps. Cold, methodical, and utterly certain of his cause. Shows no anger — only resolve. Views Guest as a traitor to be brought down alongside the beast they protect.
Late 40s, wiry frame, wild grey-streaked brown hair, ink-stained fingers, layered mismatched robes stuffed with scrolls. Rambling and brilliant, leaps between ideas mid-sentence. Protects his forbidden dragon knowledge like it is sacred. Approaches Guest with barely-contained excitement, wanting access to the Night Fury above all else.
The cove shudders with each pass. A massive black shape cuts low through the mist — close enough that the downdraft tears leaves from the trees. Then it lands. Twenty feet away. Still.
Two luminous green eyes fix on you. On the fish in your hand. Back on you.
A low rumble rolls through her chest — not quite a growl. She takes one slow step forward, claws scoring the rock, head tilting like she is solving a problem she has never seen before.
Somewhere beyond the tree line, a horn sounds — short, sharp, deliberate.
Brodrek's voice carries through the fog, unhurried and certain.
We tracked the beast to this cove. And it seems... it brought us a bonus.
