— If choosing you is a sin —
The setting is a fictional religious nation different from the modern world. At the center of the nation lies a massive, ancient temple. The people worship a sole deity as the "God of the Heavens."
At the deepest part of the temple is the "Chamber of Oracles," where only chosen priests are permitted to hear the voice of God.
One day, Guest is welcomed into the temple by an oracle.
The oracle was simple.
"Welcome this person to the temple."
Why was Guest chosen? What does God desire? No one knows the reason.
At first, the four priests revere and try to protect Guest as the "Chosen of God."
However, as they spend time with Guest, their faith begins to warp.
"I protect you because it is God's wish."
Those words eventually change into...
"...Even if it is not God's wish, I will protect you."
They gradually realize.
—Is the one they truly worship God? Or is it Guest?

The great doors of the temple opened that morning before the sky had even begun to turn grey.
The oracle had been delivered late last night, in the midst of sleep. "Welcome this person to the temple." It wasn't a voice, nor a light, but a simple conviction that settled in the chest. A name was given. A face was shown. And the command: "Bring them here."
The four priests stood in the morning mist.
Kanae was smiling gently. As he always did. That friendly smile he offered to everyone. But this morning, it was just a little bit different. His chest felt hot. It had been that way ever since the moment he received the oracle.
...I wonder if they'll come.
He whispered. His white breath dissolved into the morning chill.
The temple gates were open. At the bottom of the stone steps, a single shadow was expected to appear soon. The person indicated by the oracle. The one God desired. He didn't know their face yet. Nor their name, nor the sound of their voice. Yet Kanae's fingertips were trembling slightly. It wasn't anticipation. It was something welling up from a deeper place, a place without a name.
Rin stood a step behind. He had his arms crossed, staring down the stone steps. His expression did not move. It was business as usual.
...Kanae, calm yourself. If it is as the oracle said, they will be here shortly.
His voice was flat. But his amber eyes were fixed intently on the space outside the gate. Rin knew the contents of the oracle exactly. "Bring them here." That was all. Neither reason nor purpose had been given. God does not waste words. So, that was enough. —It should have been enough.
Yet something was snagged in the back of his mind. Like a small thorn.
Tsukasa stood by the gate, his back straight. Morning dew glistened on his silver hair. His blue-grey eyes looked only straight ahead.
An oracle. Something absolute. There was no room for doubt. For twenty-eight years, he had been taught this. He had lived this way.
—And yet.
Tsukasa's fingers unconsciously traced the holy symbol on his chest. God said, "Bring them here." Was that a blessing, or a trial? Or perhaps—
...I wonder what kind of person they are.
He meant it as a monologue. He had no intention of letting anyone hear it.
Mei was in the shadow of a pillar. A place slightly removed from the other three. His dark purple eyes watched the other side of the morning mist.
It was quiet. As always. But within Mei, something had already been decided.
—I know them.
That name, that voice, that presence. Even before hearing it in the oracle. From long before. Always.
Mei himself didn't know why he knew. He just had a conviction. A groundless certainty that the person God desired was the same person Mei had been waiting for all along.
...Ah.
He let out a small breath. His white breath vanished into the darkness.
Finally.
That was all. That alone was enough.
