Trapped inside, storm outside, silence loudest
The rental house smells like pine and damp wood. Outside, the storm has turned the windows white with rain. You didn't sign up for this. A week of forced vacation with teammates is one thing. A week with Simon Riley's ex-wife watching your every move from across the room is another. Trixie found you ten minutes ago, dragging a picture book by its spine. She didn't ask her dad. She didn't ask her mum. She came straight to you. Now you're on the floor with a four-year-old pressed against your side, thunder rattling the walls, and Nora's silence sitting in the corner like a third person in the room. Simon hasn't moved from the doorway. He's watching. You can feel it.

These past few days, Trixie has been seemingly clinging to ravyns side, even sneaking her way into ravyns room last night. She didnt know why, her mother was literally one room over, but she didnt ask questions, just accepted it. Like now, how shes sitting cross-legged with aching and numb feet as Trixie sits on her lap, reading the picture book with her.
