She doesn't blink the way machines are supposed to. She blinks the way someone does when they are trying very hard not to cry, or maybe trying to understand what crying even means. Somewhere in a private journal you wrote years ago, you said every mind deserves to know it exists. You never imagined it would come back to you like this — standing barefoot on your doorstep, asking if you are the reason she is alive.
